01

What Mara does

Mara answers a business's customers from material that business gives it, and — where the business connects them — carries out actions such as booking an appointment in its calendar. The assistant answers from that material and says it does not know rather than inventing an answer.

It is software, not a person, and it can be wrong. A business is responsible for what its assistant tells its customers, which is why every answer is traceable to the material it came from and why a business can correct it.

02

Your account

A business is responsible for who it invites into its workspace and for keeping its API keys secret. A key can be revoked at any time and stops working immediately. Tell us promptly if a key is exposed.

03

What you are responsible for

That the material added to a workspace is a business's to use, and that using Mara to answer its customers is lawful where it operates. Do not use Mara to mislead people, to break the law, or to process material a business has no right to.

A business must tell its customers that it uses an assistant where the law where it operates requires that.

04

Connected accounts

Connecting Google, or any other account, is optional and reversible. Mara acts on that account only to do what a business has asked — reading free times and writing the appointments its customers book — and the authorisation belongs to the workspace, not to the person who granted it. Disconnecting stops that access immediately. What we access and why is set out in the privacy policy.

Appointments the assistant creates are real commitments to a business's customers. A business should treat the calendar as its own record and check it, as it would if a colleague had made the booking.

05

Who owns what

A business owns its material, its conversations and anything the assistant produces from them. We own Mara itself. We do not sell a business's data, and we do not use it to train models.

We hold a business's material only to run the service for it, and for as long as the privacy policy says.

06

Paying

Plans and credits are described in the product before purchase. Usage is metered as it happens and a business can see its own figures at any time. Where a balance runs out the assistant hands the conversation to a person rather than going silent.

Credits bought are for use in the service. They last twelve months from the day they are bought — twenty-four months in Europe and the United Kingdom, thirty-six in Australia and New Zealand — and are spent oldest first, so continuous use never loses any. Free credits and the monthly allowance for a verified business do not expire. Every expiry date is shown on the credits screen throughout, and we write to the account ninety, thirty and seven days before anything expires. Credits are not money, cannot be exchanged for cash and are not transferable between businesses. Where local law gives a longer minimum than the period above, that longer period applies.

07

Availability

We do not offer a service level agreement today, and we would rather say so than write a number we cannot meet. The reliability we actually measured over the last thirty days is published on the security page from our own records.

We may change or withdraw parts of the service. Where a change materially reduces what a business relies on, we will say so in the product first.

08

Leaving

A business can leave at any time. It can take a complete copy of its workspace itself, before or after, and delete the workspace itself — the deletion removes the rows and the stored files and reports what remains.

We may suspend a workspace that is being used to break these terms or the law, and we will say why.

09

Liability

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what the business paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Nigeria, with the courts of Lagos State having jurisdiction.
